Rkfbrkß-" The o*ner of Master Agnes announces in the advertising columns of this journal for the third year in succession that the son of Oawi vellaunns and Fair Agnes will stand this season at White's Line, Carterton, Wairarapa, at the fee of of sgs. Master Agnes' tabulated pedigree reads as under : His sire, Oassi veils unus (who is now dead), only raced twice in England, and that was as a two yoar old when he won both stakes he, started for at Newmarket. Im additie* to Master Agnes, he has sired in this colony Envious, Jealousy, Billy, Mass Rose, J*uritan and other good racers. CassiTellaunus' sire Caractacus won the Derby at Epsom in 1862, and his dam Campanile, is a daughter of the emperor of stallions, Stock well. Fair Agnes, the dam ef Master Agnes, is a daughter of the imported bay Middletoa horso St Aubyn, and is out of Phosbe, the maternal ancestress of so many good horses including Pinfire's dim, Queen of tb« South, ParaW'henua's dam. Countess, Maca s dam, Raupo; Wolverine's dam, Tangi, and Sinking Fund who ran a dead heat with Mata for tho Dunedin Cup of 18711. Phoebe was a daughter of the King of Australian sires. Sir Hercules. Fair Agnes in addition to Master Agnes, has thrown another good hurdle racM in Magnesia and a fairish sprinter in St Agnes, Rose A'Bouheur and her sons. Maroro, Chokebore, and Badsworth, were all above the average on the Turf. As a two yoar old Muster Agnes won the Spring Nursery Handicap at the C.J.C. Metropolitan Meeting and he followed this up by getting home in front of a field of five in the Two year old Handicap, but was disqualified on the ground of a cross. At the C.J.C. Dagg, Masterton, and is out of his prize mare Grace, by Lord Nelson. Grace tut of Jenny, by Young Prince Charley. Jenny was bred by Mr ATcoc'tburn, Manaia, and is out of Jess by Young Loftv. Grace was only exhibited once when'she gained fitst as a two y.;ar old. Jenney Masher's grand dam was only exhibited three times, gaining three first and two special prizes. Lord Nelson was wellknown to breeders ip the Wairarapa, and «ained many honours in the show ring, not only here, but in the South Island. The Masher gained first prize in Masterton in 1885 also Mr Lawrence's special of £5 for the best foal by Lord Nelson, and in 1886 he gained first at Carterton. It is needless to say any more as the above named horses were so well and favorably known in the Wairaiapa, 1b in itself a sufficient guarantee to breeders. The Masher will tiavel to Grey town on Tuesdays and Masterton on Thursdays, and the rest of the week at his owner's stables, Park Road, Carterton.
