Gisborne, November 11
~4Ehe Government have advised Pini Amine Waiapapa to serve Tutu and his people with notices to lenve the Waipiro block this day. This has been doDe, but Tutu refuses so leave, and summonses have just been issued and served on Tutu and four others, naming them to appear before the Resident Magistrate to-morrow morning to answer h charge of trespass. Christchobch, November 11. The banquet to the Hon. W. Eolleaton, given to-night, was on 3 of the most brilliant functions ever held in qferistchurch. The Tuam street Hal I
was filled with farmers, rnnholders
and visitors from all parts of the L Colony. There were also a large • attendance of ladies in the gallery. The chair was occupied by Mr John Grigg, .j-cf Longbeach, and among those present were Hon John Bryce, Captain Russell, Sir J. Hall, Hon <J. CL Bowen, Hon E. Mitchelson, Mr Scobie McKenzie, M.H.R., Mr D. H. Mac Arthur, M.H.R.. Hon H. J. Miller, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes and the
Hon E. 0. J. Stevens. Mr Rolleston spoke for forty minutes, touching on the various measures proposed by the Government, and after satirically denouncing their actions and professions, urged farmers and settlers not to be disheartened, but to organise and form a party which would inspire confidence in the country, and show workingmen and others that they were being hoodwinked by the socalled Great Liberal Party. Mr W. Acton Adams proposed the health of Mr Bryce, ex-leader, who is now (11.50 p.m.) responding and explaining his retirement.
