EDUCATION BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Education Board was held yesterday morning. There were present—Mr J. R. Blair (Chairman), Dr Newman, M.H.R., and Messrs W. C. Buchanan M.H.R., A. W. Brown, F. H. Fra:er, W. W. McOardle and J. Young. The pay sheet for tue month £ 2877 was passed for payment. Insppctor Lee reported favourably upon the proposal to establish a school at Newman township near Eketahuna, and recommended that one be temporarily opened ac the local town hall and that Mrs Neilson, now of Eketahuna School, bu placed in charge, Tho import was adopted.
On Mr Leo's recommendation itwas decided to add a new class room to the Dalefield School, and that a cliiamey be placed iu the rooms already built. The matter of re-arranging the teaching staff at Wailienga was left iu the Chairman's hands. On the motion of Mr Buchanan it was decided that a clause be added to the conditions of future building contracts, requiring all timber to be on the ground for not less than a month before the work of erection is started.
Arrangements were made for holding a meeting of the Finance Committee to devise a schema of building operations for the year a* soon as the allocation of the grant is ascertained from tbe government. A motion by Mr MpCnrdle that plans be prepared for erecting the i proposed school at Malfakahi was not seconded.
December }§th and }6th were fixed as the dates for the scholarship examination, and the lyth and 19th for the pupil teachers' examination. The Waiiarapa Committees were given power to arrange for the Show Day holidayb in their respective districts.
