RATES OF WAGES.
[From the Examiner.']
Owing to complaints regarding a recent reduction of laborer's wages by the Wairoa County Couucil, the H.B. Free Association made enquiries as to ruling rates of the various County Councils with the following results : Hawke's Bay: 7s per day worked, wet or dry, no reduction
for holidays, tents found. Thames : 73 per working day, holidays
not reckoned. Wairarapa North : Permanent hands 7s, find own tools; casuals 7s tools found.
OnlyChristmasandNew Year's day allowed. Taranaki: 6s per working day, public holidays allowed permanent hands. Manawatu : Permanent hands 6s and casuals 7s per working day. No holidays paid for. Wairoa (H. 8.): Permanent hands Cs and 6s 6d wet or dry, public holidays paid for.
