MASTERTON ROAD BOARD

(The ordinary monthly meeting of the Masterton Boad Board was hold on Saturday last. Present— Messrs Bpetuam (Chairman), M'Leod, Wardell and M'Keuzio. Correspondence outward and inward was dealt with. _lt was resolved to inform Mr Matthews that tenders for the gravel reserve will be dealt with at uoxfc meeting. TE WERAITI IJOAV. It was resolved, on the 'motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Brown, " That the Minister be asked to state when be will inspect the Te Weraiti * road, as the property has changed

hands, and it would be only fair to the purchasers to have the matter settled; and to point out that the surveyor is now laying off roads through lands on the east side of the Taueru, in respect of which the grants haye matured years ago, and that in the case of Te Weraiti it iB necessary to take the hoe while the right exists." It was decided that the Board claim a right of road round the paddock occupied by Mr Haigh, and that Mr Haigh be written to ana informed that he must not plough it up; that if the ploughing is persisted in the Board will order the removal of the gates. UPPEB OPAKIBOAD. The Clerk was authorised to take steps to raise a loan of JEBOO for formation, bridging, and metalling on the Te Mara and Kiriwhakapapa roads. FINANCE, The report of che Finance Committee was read, aßd accounts amountingTo £222 193 9d passed for pavnyMj^ report. Th~e report of the Engineer was read and adopted. GENERAL. It was resolved that Mr Falconer be written to, informing him that the Board agrees to his putting his fence twenty five links within the reserve boundary, on the understanding that the reserve shall be extended twentyfive links on the opposite side. Mr Falconer's offer of JEI towards the cost of removing the gate was accepted, the work to be done under the supervision of the Engineer. An application from Mr Hare for wire to the road through his property at Kangitumau was not entertained.

Mr M'Leod gave notice to move to rescind the resolution determining to do away with all gates on roads. The meeting then adjourned.
