ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Road Board was held in the office on Saturday afternoon. Present W. B. Matheson (Chairman), Thoij. Parsons, A. Anderson and F. Dowsett. The minutes of fhe previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was received from ratepayers in the Wellington No 2 Block, asking that something be done to the road leading to tbeir sections. — Resolved that the surveyor General's attention be called to the 600 acre Tc'.ara reserve in the Wellington No 2 S.S. Block. The bush sending on the road, through the reserve is a great hindrance to settlement, and blocks the way to land already sold and cleared. Messrs Faulkner and ] Morgan waited on the Board with j reference to the formation of the roftd into the Wellington No 2 Special Settlement. After considerable discussion it was resolved that Mr King, the engineer, be instructed to call tor tenders according to the memoranda in the Clerks hands, in two half mile lengths, for formation. From Alfredton Road Board informing the Eketahuna Board that they intended to continue to take steps to raise the loan of £6OO for formation and bridge work on the Tawaita road north, and asking the Eketahuna Board if they intended to raise their share of £2OO.
Resolved that the letter ot the Alfredton Road Board be replied to fully at the next meeting; That permission be granted to Mr Murdoch to transfer payments coming to him for getting signatures to petition to M| James Cooper, Mr Cooper to receive same upon getting the required number of signatures; From Crown Lands Office informing Board that the ranger bad been instructed to inspect work to be done on Hefty's Road. From Albert Martin asking for permission to lease the gravel pit adjoining bis section. —Granted. From Mr Harold Smith on behalf ot Mr Lowes asking for permission to buy in the road between sectioa 89 and 40.—Resolved that Mr Smith's letter be replied to, to the effect that provided his client obtains the necessary signatures and plan, and pays all expenses, that this Board will sell the roadline for 80s an acre from section 39 to 40.
From Himbrook, Waterson, and others, requesting that the Board take steps to raise a loan of £4OO for the formation of a track on tbe Makakahi road north, to the Central Mangaone Road, west.—Resolved that the Clerk take steps to raise the necessary loan (£400) for road formation on the Makakahi Road north, from the Central Mangaone Road west, to about 10 chains along section 15, block 3, Mangaone Survey District. Mr Morris waited on the Board with reference to doing something to the swamp in the Wellington No. 1 Special Settlement.—Resolved that tenders be called for fascining and filling in the boghele by next Board meeting. i PAY SHEET.
Accounts amounting to £305 103 were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
