The Technical Classes' Association brought their session to a cloee tonight by a conversazione and exhibition of work, scientific apparatus, models, etc. Speeches were given by Mr A. Burt (President), Sir Robert Stout, Mr Pinkerton, M.H.8., and Mr James Allen. The Garrison .Hall was crowded for the occasion. The exhibition is to be kept open for another two days. Auckland, October 8. After having been refitted, the dredger left the harbour this afternoon on her voyage to Melbourne.

Tfct Allied Fatal Oruilty-

AucKLAND.October 8.

An inquest has been held at Hakaru on tb£ body of the boy George Thomas, exhumed in consequence of reports that his death had been hastened by illtreatment. The jury found a verdict to the effect that the lad's death was the result of exhaustion, consequent on hip disease, from whioh he was suffering, and accelerated by insufficient and proper food. The boy's parents have been arrested.

The criminal sessions opened to-day. The Court was occupied nearly all day in hearing a case of breaking and enterwg against W. Barnard, well known in sporting circles. Mr Jellicoa defended. The jury retired and kave not yet brought in tbeir verdict. Leon Jacquash was admitted to probation on a charge of cattle stealing. Sentence was deferred in the charge of raps on a little girl against H. Baylay, a lad of about 15 years old.
