RED STAR BALL.

Th,e ahnu|l ball under the auspices of the Masterton Bed Star Football Club was held in the prill Hall Igat night. Unfortunately, owing to the fearfully rough weatuer quite a number pf cpuntry people, who had signified their of bpiog present, were unable to put i# an appeafafice, so that although the actual puqiber! present was fairly large, about sixtyfivp couples being on the floor,thehall was not crowded, Those, however,who did brave the stormy night, anjoyed themselves most thoroughly, the floor being perfect and all other matters being equally well attended to by a • —painstaking and enermost 0... After supper the trophies won by ■members of the first and second fifteens were presented by His Worship the Mayor of Masterton, tha blushing recipients of these marks of their comrades' regard in most cases returning thanks for the honors received.

•Special {.raise is due to Messrs F. [ Butement, B. Cargill, W. Iggulden, the energetic Secretary, (Mr A. J. Boddington),and the ladies' committee for tbs manner in which they worked to attain the greatest possible success.

Alter going through a lengthy and well arranged programme the gathering broke up about three o'clock.
