Disastrous Fire.
Chbistcbcbch, Tuesday. A fire broke out early this morning in the workshops near H. B. Webb's Hotel, St. Albans. The Brigade turned out, but when the steam engine reached the North Belt she stopped and drew fires, The Chemical Engine went on, but could not cope wjth the fire, which spread to a housecontaining2o rooms. The engines were then ordered on, but an hour's delay took place, the result being the destruction of the workshops and the gutting of all the rooms .at the back of the house. The damage is esthnal. •! at five * pounds. The building *~ wa* insured far £250 in the Union __flffice and the furniture for £7OO in the Liverpool, London and Globe. The City, Extinguishing plant has been subsidised to attend all the fires at Bt Albans Borough. Webb's house is only about 400 yards over the city Boundary.
