Mr Cosmo Newberry, Government Analyst and Mining Expert of Victoria, who is now on a visit to Europe on business of his department, is experimenting with the SchoffenbergLnhrig process of gold saving. He considers that the result of the trial shows it will boa satisfactory plan of dealing with tailings. After completing his enquiries in Germany Mr Newberry visits Italy. He will return to Melbourne early in the year. The Leitz Company rounder that Victorian lignite makes excellent briquette, equal to two thirds standard coal for steam and heating purposes. The company hope to produce briquettes which will compete in heating power and cheapness with the Newcastle coal. They are disposed to erect plants for the purpose of treating this lignite at their own risk. FOREIGN.
