Cases in the Admiralty Court.

DuNEDKf, September 21. Since the colonial Courts of Admiralty Art came into operation iu July last, Justice Williams has had three cases to deal with, and another cornea on to-morrow in connection with the Menaikoff. The case to-day was a claim of £25080n the bottomry bond given at Paraguay, South America, by Captain Overton, of the barque Mikado, which was to leave Me* York lor Dunedin and Lyttelton tinder Captain Bunn, but Captain) AngeA went on board and asserted his rights as owner, and took charge. Everything went well for some time on the voyage, but Captain Angel soon commenced to broach cargo, and subsequently getting drunk, ran amuck. Armed with four revolvers, he paraded the deck shooting every-1 thing about him. He put intoTcejuens Bay, au open roadstead in . Brazil, with a view of effecting repairs the rnddtr, but as they could not ~~*. be effected tbeie he went on to Paraaguay, »nd under plea of getting repairs effected, commenced to nnload and sell the cargo. Captain Overton W9s sent there on behalf of the underwriters and found the barque insufficiently manned, some of the crew deserted, and insufficiently moored. Finding it impossible to do anything with Captain Angel he took steps to get the British Consul to form a Naval Court. While the proceedings were on Captain Angel went up country and died; and as Captain Overton had no personal credit there he gave a bottomry bond, and as he could not get another master he had reluctantly to take charge himself. The bond was for repairs, outfits, provisions, An order for a decree was made, the terms of which will be fixed tomorrow, the question being 0" to whether there is jurisdiction to order the vessel to Lyttelton to discharge. The cargo has been landed undu- the usual general avemgH bond, but it is expested that the sale of the vessel will realise the full amount of the bond.
