RIFLI CLUB.
A meeting of the Committee of the Whakataki-Tinui Rifle Club was held at the Marine Hotel, Whakataki, on Saturday evening last. Present —Messrs A. McHutchon (Chairman) R. Harvey, C.J. Norton, J. B. Os borne, and A. J. Speedy. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. It was decided that the next prize Bring take place at both ranges on Saturday, 3rd October, with Snider rifles.
Mr J. S. Handyside intimated thai he would present the Club with a silver salver valued at ten guineas. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and elected a life member forthwith.
I Mr A. B. Murray reported that the following firms bad given presents:— J. Elliott and Co., silver mounted hunting crop; Caselberg and Co., card stand ; A. Henderson, silver Maltese cross ; W. Dougall, silver medal; A. T. Hancock, pair of spurs. A hearty vote of thank 3 was accorded Mr Murray for the interest he had shown in the Club, and to the above gentlemen for the gifts ; and the Secretary was instructed to convey the same to them in writing.
The Chairman reported the arrival of the first consignment of MartiniHenri Rifles, and the meeting were unanimously of opinion that the Club should supply M. H. ammunition to membirs, at a reduction b&. low cost price,the difference to be de trayed from the Club's funds. The following accounts were passed for payment :—Wilkins and Field, £i Hs 3d ; J. Paytondt Co., £2 ;J. Schofield, £1 5s 4d ; Defence Stores, 3s 6 J ; leaving a balance in hand of £lO.
One new member was elected and : he meeting adjourned with a vote of ; hanks to the chair.
