Messrs Lowes and lorns have just opened out a consignment of tjlwsware and crockery whtoh can now be inspected at their rooms. The sale takes place on Saturday at 2 o'clock.
A further dividend of 3s in the £ ha* been declared in the estate oi Richard JFitton, flaxmiller. The annual horse parade in connection with the Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association will be held in tho yards of Messrs. Lowes and lorns.Renall street, on Wednesday next.
A monster " tangi' is to be hold by the Natives at Te Ore Ore on Saturday oyer the graves of those who have recently departed. Several hundred Natives are •xpected to b» present, a large number coming fr orn Hawke's Bay. The Carterton branch of the Presby» terian Church held a very successful sale of work yesterday in the Assembly Rooms, Carterton. At 6 o'clock the takings had exceeded £3O, and by the crush of people there was in the evening the taking for the day would amount to olose on £SO. Tho proceedings in the evening were enlivened by a promenade concert.
Messrs Lowes and [urns announee a sale of Mr F. Shaw's dairy stock of cheese,and butter plant. Mr Shaw's relinquishing the dairy business ought to afford an excellent opportunity to aoquire first class stock implements. In reserving "The Pirates of Penzance" until tho last two nights the Juvenile Opera Company have kept back a strong trump card. Last night's representation in the Opera House, Wellington, was a boisterous success, the larpe audience boinc enthusiastic to a degree in their applause. To enu» merate every triumph would weary; suffice it to say that the new Wellington singer, Miss Marian Mitchell, who took the part of "Mabel," proved herself a most capable vocalist with a voice of surprising power and depth of tone for so young a girl. She received many and loud plaudits. To-night the talonted company give their last performance, and another crowded house is certain to assemble.
The Bon Marche has always held the reputation for the nicest assortment of new goods at the opening of the season, and Hooper and Company are determined to offer the public such a choice this season as will eolipse everything in the district.
Hooper and Company announce the arrival of their first shipments for the season which is now being opened up at tho Bon Marche. Every department will be fully stocked with all the latest fashions and charming millinery, English and French flowers, hats and bonnets, fashionable mantles and jackets, tho newest styles, designs and materials for dresses, new pnnts, muslins, detains, new laces, ribbons, gloves, parasols, &c, &o.
