Our representatives have visited thj London and Continental Markets with instructions to secure the very latest productions. The result of their efforts, we arc pleased to say, prove eminently satisfactory. All the Needs of Fashion have been fully considered, and the unlimited assortment of handsome Textiles now displayed in the different Showrooms renders it an easy and pleasing task to select materials for Gar* ments suited to every taste and all requirements. Fashion* Notes.—ln the 'Woollen Dress Department the variety is practically un-' limited. " Corduroy "is one of the leading materials for this season, light in weight and soft in texture ; shown in a variety of shades. " Summer Scotch Cheviots," show ing rough and shaggy ovals and dots upon mixed or striped grounds are. to be much worn. French Cheviots, with smooth surface, both checked and plain. Jacqnered Costume Cloth, Jacquered Berge Chintz, Stripes Jacquered Tweeds. Fine Summer Saxonys, Camels' Hair Tweed, soft and pliant. When these Elegant Fabrics are made up plainly, the Costume ia shown to be of particular attractiveness. Following on the English season, Tweeds of all descriptions are to be mnch in vogue, especially the light textures, which make up well, and at ail times' are very coming to any figure, and so well adapted to th# climate. Dainty Cotton Fabrics, for Summer wear. —The assortment in this department is unusually large and attractive. These Fabrics are shown in every shade of colour that i 3 possible to be produced. Bright colours principally predominate, which are, however, in making up '• artistically" toned down, and are refined and becoming.
Scotch Ginghams.—The fancy Woven F/ench and Scotch Zephyrs, Checked and Spotted Ginghams, Prints and Zephyrs,_ in all the new Floral Designs—" Running Vines," Sprigs, or with small detachod Flowers, " Violets;" "Morning Glories," " Carnations," etc., Elegant and English Novelties. New Summer Capes, Mantles, Cloaks, Dressing and Tea Gowns, &c, Ac. It is seldom that at the commencement of a season euch a complete change of Fashion should be shown to hare taken place in this department. Th<» modes of recent years hare been discarded, and something altogether new has taken place. The styles just cpeued are not only quite different but are becoming attractive. The New Lace Mantles, Capei and Fichus, in great variety. The new Macintoshes for this season are very stylish, both in shape and design of pattern. Checks. Stripes, and Plaids, ara most in favour. The Dust Cloaks, in all shades. Some very handsome novelties in Dressing Gowns are now being shown.
