The Stockowners List for North Wairarapa was finally revised in the R.M, Court this morning, and passed without objection, Dr Newman's opinion of the Public Works Staement is that it is like the proverbial schoolboy's wash, because for every work propsed there was a little " lick" and a great deal of " promise." Inspector Drummond informs us that the small rental cf the Kaiwhata country leased to Mr H. Nitz is not in consequeuoo of the rabbits, but owing to the inferior quality of the land. A very excellent portrait of the children who took part in the recent performance of "Cinderella" is on view in the window of Mr T. E. Prioe, photographer. Mr E. J. Searl, who recently took over the Star Hotel, has made several important alterations for the convenience and comfort of his customers, and now intends thoroughly draining the premises. Tenders for the work are invited, to close on Monday next, the 14th inst. The following reply has been received from the Hon J. Bryce to the requsiition from his constituents:—l am deeply sensible for the manner my late constituents are standing by me, but it is useless to stand, as I ahould not teel able to re-enter the House while the censure is uncancelled.
A petition has been largely signed by the principal settlers of the PahiatuaMakuri district praying the Government to assist them in making'abridge across the Tiraumaa River at the Ngaturi, Ngaturi-Aohanga, and the Makuri Valley Roads.
