MY SWEETHEART.

Dobsoa-Eeaned? Company.

The production of the great musical comedyrdrama •• My Sweetheart," in the Theatre Royal last eveniug by the Dpbson-Kennedy Company, in connection with Mr G. J. 8. Palmer, was highly successful. The hail was packed from floor to ceiling with a most appreciative audience, and the management of the popular company mast have been extremely gratified at the result of their efforts to cater for the amusement of the public. Notwithstanding that the piece had been under rehearsal for a few days only, the various parts were sustained in a most creditable manner. The impersonation of the character of " Tony Faust" by Mr Palmer was in itself a rare dramatic treat, his earnest manner and graceful 'presence being as pleasing' as was'life reaHs'rh Tina' fidelity of his acting. His sirhple love for the V kiddie?," "bis infatuation with the charming iW, his yielding to the temptations of a fascinating adventuress, and his subsequent return to his old love were eaph ppurtrayed in la peculiarly' natural and grapeful I manner, whilst bis vocal productions —and he has a cultivated tenor voice were alike sympathetic and pleasing. Mr Palmer is a most refined actor, and has already stamped himself aa a favourite with the Masterton audience. The conception of the part of Tina, a fascinating girl just home from school, by Miss Idrene

Thornton, was both graceful and charming, whilst as the heartless adventuress Miss Lily Hill was most successful. Mr Collet Dobson fully sustained his reputation as an actor in his interpretation of the part of Doctor Oliver, whilst as Dudley Harcourt (a dude) Mr Frank Norton, was exceedingly funny. Mrs Jermyn caused no end of fun by the assumption of the rights of her sex, and Mr J. J. Kennedy, whilst entrusted with only a minor part, evoked roars of laughter. The whole of the remaining characters were thoroughly well sustained, and with the new scenery, beautiful dresses, and elaborate stage appointments, the entertainment was one of the most refined that has been produced in Masterton for some considerable time.
