All Nominations, Entries, and Acceptances (to be made in writing, addressed to the Secretary at the Observer Office, Carterton), will be received up to the arrival of the late train from "Wellington on the advertised date of closing. No nominations or acceptances will be received on any pretence'whatever unless accompanied by the necessary fee. 4. A Hack shall mean a horse that has never started for, or is entered for, a weight for age or handicap at time of starting, and has not been nominated for Derbies, Champagnes, or Guineas to be run for this racing season: hack races excepted. 5. Li all Nominations for Handicaps the name, age, pedigree, color, sex, and previous performances of the horse, name of owner and colors of rider must be given.
