Auckland, August 27. Another petition in favour of tlie Electric Lighting Bill, with 716 signatures, has been forwarded to Wellington to Mr Shera, M.H.R. Accidents and Fatalities. Thames, August 27, A little lad, about 7 years of age, named Donnelly, was playing with a detonating cap to-day, when it sud. denly exploded, and resulted in the little fellow's hand being blown off from the wrist, with the exception of the little finger. The flesh and sinews about the wrist were also terribly torn, while his face was slightly cut in two or three places. ICr Hu?h Sbortland Auckland, August 27. Hugh Shortland, solicitor, laid a fresh information for alleged criminal libal against the informant in the case dismissed last week. Mr Campbell, who appeared for the defence, applied for an adjournment so that the Resident Magistrate who heard the last case should deal with it. Mr Shortland protested against the proposal. The Bench, while asserting its competency to deal with the matter, left the case for the decision of the Magistrate on Wednesday next.
