Hugh Shortland, solicitor, laid a fresh information for alleged criminal libal against the informant in the case dismissed last week. Mr Campbell, who appeared for the defence, applied for an adjournment so that the Resident Magistrate who heard the last case should deal with it. Mr Shortland protested against the proposal. The Bench, while asserting its competency to deal with the matter, left the case for the decision of the Magistrate on Wednesday next.
