FOUND DROWNED.

Th 9 Missing Surveyor, Mr. A. Dunlaa.

The body of the late Mr, Alexander Dnndns, surrey or, of Falmerston North, was found on the beach in Oriental Bay yestorday morning. The deceased came into town about tour weeks ago in connection with the Supreme Court case, Manawatu Road Board v. Welliugton and Manawatn Railway Company, and was supposed to have left a week later, and his disappearance has cansed considerable anxiety amongst his friends ever since, as no trace of him could be heard of. Yesterday, however, all doubts were set at rest, as the body waa found by Mrs. E. Brattle, of Lome street, about noon. The body was in a terriblo state, all the flesh being off the face, and the greater part being off his hands. It was dressed in grey clothes with a top coat, and had evidently been washed ashore with the north-west . wind. Information having been given to the police, Constable Madden had the body removed to the Morgue, where it was searched. The Constablt jM found an envelope addressed, "Ajff, Dundas, EBq.,Club Hotel.Wellington," 2s 6d and two coppers in money, a piece of candle, handkerchief, pipe and a bottle of whiskey. Up to the present nothing is known as to how the unfortunato gentleman got in the water, but it is surmised he fell in close to town somewhere, and the body has been since floating about, and the northerly wind of yesterday set it into the place where it was discovered.— Times.
