ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on August 18tb. Present Messrs Kebbell Warren, Eli Smith, S, M. George, and Bowstead. Inward correspondence was read as follows: From Receiver of Land Revenue, re thirds sent. From W. G. Beard, stating that A. W. Gould had lodged a bond for costs in the appeal case Beaufort v. the Board. From the same, stating that Mr Gould had decided not to go on with the appeal, and returning the minute book.—The Chairman's action in instructing Mr Beard to take all necessary steps regarding the appeal in the case was confirmed. From Bank, acknowledging receipt of cheques for public account £lB 4s 9d and £2 13s 4d; also £7 lis lid for Board's account. From L. M. M'Knight, re track to her place, and requesting her husband's name be put on the Valuation Roll for her property. From E. Porter, stating that some bridges need repairing on the Mangaone Valley Road and offering to repair same At a shilling an hour if the Board desired. The Clerk was instructed to reply that the settlers had done all that was neoessary at present. From Mesrrs J. & G. Judd, re felling bush on the road line leading through section 4, Block 15, Mangaone,—The letter was referred baok for fuller particulars as to the position of the road, length and cost of work. From Pahiatua County, requesting a refund of Arnaboldi's thirds. -—lt was resolved that the County be informed that Arnaboldi was agreeable to the expenditure, and the Land Board approved of same, and to give them a corrected amount.
From D. McNaughty Pitcaithly, requesting his name to be put on the roll as owner of section 40, Block 7, Mangaone. From Property Tax Commissioner, stating that the balance of the subsidy, £8 8s Id, had been sent to the Bank.
A petition was presented l>y Mr Eli Smith from ratepayers on the Tawataia rpad, requesting tbe Board to take steps to raise £6OO for expenditure on the Central Mangaone road, east, and to finish tbe formation of the northern end of the Tawataia road. —The Clerk was instructed to writ? to the Land Board re certificate for Tawataia road loan, and also for a proposed loan of £6OO. Notices of motion for striking a general rate of in the £> was given, to be confirmed at next meeting. Messrs Warren and S. M. George were authorised to sign cheques. The payment sheet amounting to £3l 0s 6d was passed. The meeting then adjourned.
