A practice match was held on the Park Oval on Saturday between teams selected from the Masterton, Red Star, and Te Ore Ore Clubs. Strange enough only five of the team who are to do battle with the Alhambras put in an appearance. If the Maaterton Club wishes to hold its own, the individual players will require to go in for assiduous practice. The Violets defeated tbe boys of Kurupuni on Saturday by eight points to nil. The following team will represent Masterton in the match on Saturday next with Te Ore Ore : —D'Arcy, R. Thompson, E. Holmwjod, C. Perry, J. Perry, H. Perry, C. Bannister, W. Day, B. Gray, C. Holmwood, Hou - slow, Malcolm, Watson, and Whitman ; emergencies, A. Holmwood, Eton, and Brabant. A representative Wellington team is about to do a tour of tho South Island, and will play Otago about the 20th inst. [by telegraph.] Dunedin, Monday. In consequence ot the Interprovincial match, Wellington v. Otago, being fixed for the 19th inst., the Alhambra team will play Masterton on the 24th, and Athletics (Wellington) on the 26th.
