salvation Army Items.

[Communicated.]

The work among the children is more than ever engaging the attention of the heads of the Salvation Army. A set of fresh rules and regulations have lately been formulated at London Headquarters. The General has despatched special officers to New Zealand to prosecute this branch of the work. The rising generation is evidently in for a good time. There are at the present time 250 men and women exclusively engaged in Salvation Army operations in this colony. Seventy separate corps or stations are worked _by them, to which are attached over one hundred outposts. Major Alfred Barritt, who some four years ago was editing the New Zealand War Cry in Chrisichurch, and is now superintending the Salvation Army operation* at Buenos Ayres, Argentine Republic, has been granted by the authorities a free pass over all railway lines. General Booth's scheme is being extended to the English provinces. Premises lately used as baths have been secured at Leeds at a cost of £IBOO, and £2OOO spent in necessary alterations to convert the whole into convenient and commodious buildings for food and shelter depots and workshops. The General formally opened the place on Wednesday, June 3rd.

A gentleman hasgive £SOO towards commencing Army operations in Hungary. Officers will shortly be despatched. The New Zealand War Cry has now a circulation of close upon 23,000 copies weekly.
