FOOTBALL.
[BY DIOGENES.] There are no matches of importance to be played in Masterton tomorrow (Saturday). Practices will, however, be held bj the Masterton Clubs on their respective pjtfuhds. The return match between the Masterton and Wellington Clubs, which was to have been played on August Ist, has bsen indefinitely postponed. Perhaps it is juat as well that the local boys should retire on their laurels, and with their unbeaten record. The date for the representative football match between Wellington and Wairarapa has not yet been fixed. I am assured, however, that it is coming off. It therefore behoves the " greens" to go in for assiduous practice. By-the-bye, does not the "Wairarapa Union recognise the Bush Union, or the Masterton Clubs the Bush Clubs ? There; ia no reason why they should not. ■ There are some strong teams in the Bush this year, and a representative match would be witnessed with very great injpsst. _____^^__
