ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Eketahuna Road Board was held on Saturday, July 18. Present:—Messrs (chairman), Neilson, Anderson, Dowsett and Parsons.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE.

From Clerk Alfredton Road Board, enclosing account of thirds, and asking for proposals. From Henry Webb, asking the Board's permission to fell bush on road line, Hutt S.S., to allow him to fence. —Request granted. From F. King, applying for a road line to be felled on Central Road, Masteiton-Hawera Block.—Resolved, that Mr King be allowed to fell the bush on the line, and be allowed the usual rate of 25s per acre. From Bank of New Zealand, advising that the sum of LBSB had been received Irora the receiver of land revenue.

From commissioner of Crown Lands re same, and objecting to the allotment of the thirds. Resolved, that the clerk show the Hutt Board thirds on tracings and forward the same to the Commissioner Crown Lauds. From A. Lerow (Parkville), re thirds, asking that the same be"spent in metalling. From Mr Grundy, re thirds, asking that the same be spent in metalling, and advising the Board that for the future Mr Cron would act as his agent. From George Edmonds, re thirds, asking same to be spent in metalling. From Mr Tyler and Mr Fogden.re same, and asking that something be done to -Septimus street.—.Resolved that .£IOO belonging to Parkville be spent as follows :—Central Road, £66; Sparksman's Road, £22; Tyler's Road, £l2. From M. Kerrins, asking payment for work done. Resolved, that the Board adhere to its former resolution, re. retaining £lO to complete woik. From Mr. Caffrey, stating that he

would repair :he central road f r the sum of £B. Resolved that the matter be left in the hands of Mr. Parsons to deal with.

From J. McDonald, asking for road line to be filled in Makakabi road. Granted. From C. M. Crombie (Commissioner Property tax) with Declaration re Subsidy, From Audit Department advising members to be vigilant so as to prevent embezzlement, <fcc. SPECIAL ORDER,

It was proposed that the Board will at a meeting to be held on the 15th August, 1891, make the following special order: —That tor the purpose of securing the sum of £IOO guaranteed to tfie Board, under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1866, for the erection of a suspension bridge at Hawera road, a special rate of 10-lGths of a penny in the £be made and levied on the rateable value of the following sec' tions:—l, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27,28, Block 11, Sees. 6, 7, Block 111 all in the Mangaone survey district, and Sec 20, Block XIV, Mangaone survey district. Such special rate shall be an annualy recurring rate and will be paid in two half yearly instalments for twenty-six years on'the first day of August in each year until the debt is liquidated. Mr Dowsett moved as an amendment that a rate be struck. Mr Parsons seconded. The amendment was carried. Tenders.
