SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Tbs monthly meeting of the Masterton School Committee was held last evening. Present—Messrs E. Feist (Chairman), Daniell, Perry, Hoar.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credit balance at the bank of £ls 18s. The assets were £4l and the liabilities £4l 10s 9d. The Chairman stated that the deputation to the Town Lands Trustees had been favorably received. A grant of £3l was made, and the Trustees promised to take into consideration the advisability of making a further grant. He considered this very satisfactory. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Masterton Town Lands Trustees, forwarding resolutions passed at last meeting.— On the motion of Mr Daniell, seconded by !Mr Perry, it was resolved that the Committee express its appreciation of the manner in which the late deputation was received, and thank the Trust for the grant made. ACCOUNTS. Tke following accounts were passed for payment:—J. Pavton and Co., £2 4s ; J. J. Smith, £1 10s 6d; M. Caselbergand Co., £1 5s 3d. GENERAL. Mr Hoar reported that the pump at the infant school had gone wrong. The matter was left with the visiting member. The Chairman was appointed visiting member for the month and the meeting adjourned.
