The Puff Direct!
(To the Editor.) Sin, —In view of the present election for h member to represent Alfredton ill the County Council, my opinion is that Mr timitb has always worked faithfully and well for the district, and if it was not so he could still be sitting as member without the present election. It was ho who got the ridings divided to give Alfredton a fair share of the rates, and thus the cause of the present election. He has always fought against the present unjust Charitable Aid Act, and has advocated the re-instating of Native and Crowa Lands Rating Acts. He also took an active part in raising the loan for metalling the AlfredtonEketahuna road, while on the other hand his opponent opposed this very necessary work. Those who have watched Mr Smith's career in the Council liave no cause for complaint, but on the contrary congratulate themselves on having such a member. I trust the settlers will rally round him on Tuesday next and return him with an overwhelming majority. Yours, &c., Tawataia.
