On tho way to Putney the New Zealander drew further ahead, passim; that place in the wonderful time of Bmin 18sec. At Cabarita ho had increased bis lead iq. seven lengths, and, tho race at his mercy. Sullivan eaaed off slightly before passing the winning post, but even then hiß time, 18min 41§8ec, is the fastest over recorded. \ He finished strong and well. Dutch t rowed a good dogged race, but never " bad a chance. . . ; The betting at the start wbb 3,tp 1 on Sullivan.
