The Minister of Agriculture, iu answer to the Hon Mr Rollcston said he had not sufficient .time to deal with the Californian thistle, There were a number of other noxious weeds, notably gorse, and he should be very glad if the hon gentleman would give him as much help in that direotion as possible.
The Minister of Education, replying to Mr T. Thompson, said he was of opinion that the charging of quarter money to soholars attending eohools was beyond the spirit of the Education Act. As to stopping it, the parents or scholars should try to put a stop to it; if not, thejUovernment could make their vow - heard in the matter. The Minister of Lands informed Dr Newman that he hoped soon to be able to distribute views of the scenery in the Wellington volcanic distriot; to do so at present would entail too much expense. In answer to Mr Palmer, the Postmaster-General said the proposal for a penny post for the colony would be brought in in Ootober uext, and at the' same lime the telephono oharges would be reduced. . Questioned by Mr E. M. Smith, the Premier said the Government had come to no deoision on the question of introducing a Paapent of Members Bill, but hoped tolbo able to come to some decision before the end of the session. A number of new Bills were introduced.
A Bill, authorising the renewal of Deficiency Bills to the extent of £760,100, was brought in by the Premier and passed through all its stages. ygge. An Important SujSMT Bill for £200,000 passed through all its stages. The second reading of the Employers' Liability Act Amendment Bill was carried,
The Shop Hours Bill waqjfead a second time, as waß also the Truck Bill, whioh was discussed at great length.
