MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.

It was moval MayoPoPAuckland;' and seconded by the Mayor.of Nelson," That statutory pipyision be made to enable Borough ConVpils to eaforcethe examination of food intended for human consumption which may be taken into the limits of Boroughs, and for the examination of slaughterhouses, dailies and cowhouses, the output of-which may be offered or exposed for sale within the Borough . limits.- 2- That they shall be subject to inspection by the Inspector ap* pointed by the. Borough Council. 8. - That slaughterhouses .shall be subject to a licenre fee based on the number of animals killed therein, the fees to "be paid to the Borough in which the output is offered for~aale, Dairies or also to be subject to J)cring the disoussion which followed; it was mentioned by one of the delegates that/our beasts killed in the neighborhood of one of the largest centres of the colony had been found canseraus and rotten, bat their flesh was nevertheless consumed. The Auckland's motion re etc., was withdrawn ■iter a long discussion, the following resolution being .substituted and carried junanimously :—"That this Con* ference .desires to impress upon the Government the extreme importance of at once dealing in a comprehensive - manner by statutory enactment with the regulation of the meat and milk supply of towns."
