COLD-BLOOPED MURDER.

Melboubne, June .10. Considerable excitement was ot Deniliquirr on the evening of the 7th June, when it was reported that a horrible tragedy bad been committed in one of the main thoroughfares of the town. A man named Thomas, and a Mrs Ussher' were quarrelling over a boy related to them who bad been sent to", the training ship Vernon. Mrs Ussher was seen running away from the middle of the road toward towards the footpath, and was being followed by Thomas. The poor woman - cried : oiitj and then staggered <md fell on ber back: Several persons wbo were attracted by her screamß rushed to her assistance and discovered that her throat had been cut. She was saturated with blood, apd bad a shocking gash from (he side of the ear nearly to the centre of the throat. She died about five minutes before medical aid arrived. Sergeant Devine rushed and seized Thomas, who had a sailor's knife in his band, which appeared to have been recently sharpened, and was covered with blood. Thomas said to the sergeant, "I have killed my poor misauß," and started to cry, at the same time handing the knife to the sergeant. He was taken to the' watohhouse and charged with wilful murder.
