The decision of the Land Board in the case of Anderson is evidently influenced by the Government, which would never allow Dr Fitchett to Vbe put into the box to show how he and certain other liberal M.H.E.'s went a dummying, or if they did not actually go dummying themselves, because, of course, Liberal members never do this sort of thing, they did certain things which it would be injudicious to proclaim from the house tops. We may now take it for granted that in the eyes of the Government, a Conservative accused of dummyism is a fit subject for inquiry, and a Liberal accused of dummyism is not a fit subject for inquiry. Our local contemporary gives a recital of .the facts of the case, which is glaringly misleading. That Mr Hogg should vote for the motion was a matter of course, but that Mr McCardle should assist in stifling the inquiry was a surprise to,us. If, in comparatively small matters like this, he does not take a straightforward course, he is certainly unfit for the greater reponsibilitie's which he looks forward to.
