CAUGHT AT LAST.
PETTY PILFERING. A MAN AND WIPE ARRESTED. For some time past petty pilfering has been carried on wholesale in Masterton, and all attempts to suppress it have been fruitless. It is therefore satisfactory to find that at last a capture has been made. ' It appears that yesterday morning a. roan named Mould reported to the police that some clothing had been missed from the clothes line at the rear of the Prince of Wales Hotel, and a meat saw from a safe. Shortly afterwards Wong Yee, the Chinese grocer of Queen Street, reported' the loss of two tins of kerosene from his back premises. In the afternoon the police, from certain information received, obtained a search warrant, and. executed it upon a mail named 'William Thomas Morns, who resides in Bannister street. The result was that the whole of the stolen property was recovered.
Mr and Mrs Slorris were straightway placed under arrest and lodged in the cells. They were brought before Colonel Roberts, R.M., ' this afternoon, charged with the offence, and remanded till to momw.
