ENGLISH. London, May 81. The Imperial Government has assured the Newfoundland Government that they will establish oourts to administer treaties, and will abstain from piecemeal legislation. Sir George William des Voeux, Governor of Hong Kong, has resigned owing to ill-health. Sir F. Napier Broome, ' formerly Governor of Western Australia, will probably succeed him.

The firm of Bobert Shaw and Sons., spinners at Bradford, have assigned their estate. The liabilities are set down at £60,000.

The Jewish doctors in the Russian army have been informed that they must either adopt the orthodox faith or resign their positions, and it has been decided not to permit any further admissions of Jews to the army. June 1. A society has been established at Odessa for the purpose of assisting Jews who have been ordered to quit the country to emigrate to Great Britain. It is estimated that 60,000 Jews will be landed in Great Britain in the autumn. Berlin, June 1.
