ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Mauricevilie Road Board was held on Saturday, May 30th, Present— Messrs G. Gunderson (chairman), Forsbarg, Jackson, Drew and Bannister.
The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed and correspondence outwards; com* mtmications were received, from Treasury, Btating that Loan of £I6OO for Dryer's Rock road extension was now available ; from Mr Peter Larson, desiring the Board to fell the bush on rod line fronting his section. It was decided to accept bis offer to do the work for 36s per acre.
i A. petition was received from Mr Janett and others, requesting that a sum of money set apart by the Government for roads in Hastwell Village Settlement be expended in improving a road at Section No 30. It was decided to inform the petitioners that thd Board has not!
received the money referred to, L4O 2s, and have no control over the spending of it, except as the Surveyor General may direct. It whs resolved to pay Mr Lars Neilsen 30s as compensation for land and fence taken for part of Johnston's Road, and that the Chairman arrange with Mr Jorgen Neilsen about felling bush on unused road between his section and that of Mr Charles Forsberg. It was also decided that notice be given that the Board intends, at a meeting to be held on Saturday, June 27th, to levy a general rate offd in the £. It was the opinion of the majority of members that next year, when a new valuation would be made, it might be advisable to strike a less rate than fd. Accounts amounting to £74 14s 8d were passed for payment. Bates collected since last meeting, £lB 12s Id.
