Marton, Tuefigr, Avery severe shook of earJßafo was experienced [at 4.20" a.m. throughout this district, preceded bj ' aloud roar and a sound like an explosion. The direotion was from northwest to southwest, , Wellington, Tuesday, A slight shock of earthquake was felt in this city shortly after four this morning. Bulls, Tuesday. -W After the earthquake this morning Mount Tongariro was observed to be emitting columns of fire and smoke, and remained visible for some time after sunrise. The mountain was seen more clearly than ever bofore from Bulls.
