Eight lota of section 115, Mangahao Survey District, are gazetted as Crown lands, under section 247 of the Land Act, 1885. Forty-eight parcels of land in the land district of Wellington are gazetted as temporarily reserved from sale for various purposes. At a rifle match at Glen Lines (Victoria) recently, H. J. Lancaster, of the j Reserve Rifle Club, scored 198 out of a ! possible 210 at six ranges. Acting-Sergeant Daniel Hannan has been appointed to succeed Sergeant Price as Inspector of weights and measures for the counties of Wairarapa North, "Wairarapa South, and Pahiatua, and for the boroughs of Masterton, Greytown and Carterton. Air George Butler, who for many years was in trade at Home, has opened up as a pork butcher at the corner of Queen and Renall streets. Mr Butler is makinp a speciality of bis pork pies, and as they are quite as nice as they look he should speedily form a good connection in Masterton.
The appeal by Edward Elliston, °f Eketahuna, hotel keeper, againßt the decision of Mr Justice Edwards, quashing the license granted to Mr Elliston by the Alfredton Licensing Committee, has been dismissed with oosts. Mr Skerrett appeared for the appellant and Mr Gully (instructed by Mr Beard),for the respondent.

Todd Bros., farmers, of Fernridge, were to-day adjudged bankrupts upon the petition of a number of creditors.
Farmers and others interested In" the Cooperative and Farmers' Alliance which is being formed, are invited to meet some of the provisional directors, the secretary (Mr Jardine), and Mr T. K. Macdorald (sharebroker of the Alliance), on dates mentioned in an advertisement in another colamn. An explanation of the objects and working of the Association will be afforded, and full information on all points will be given to intending shareholder. On Monday next the meeting is at Carterton ; on Tuesday it is at M asterton ; on Wednesday at Eketahuna ; on Thursday at Pahiatua j and on Friday at Woodville. Very successful gatherings are being held under the same auspices on the West Coast at the present time.
