',/./";;; '' The weather ioi Queen's whioh was celebrated yesterday, Waa.!",> * all that. could be desired, and thY..* whole of the populace with one accord : ■ ■ set'business, with all its concominant .. anxieties, aside, and with right loyal > spirit went in for a day of solid, jubilation. The amusement* pfp"* , tided; were many and varied, and; everything was favorable.to.a capital day's en joy mert. Perhaps thegreata. est attraction 1 , of the day were tbP football matches, which were! wit-, newed by large numbers of residents- ' and. visitors from the country. The excursion trains from Wellington were well patronised, .and many city jtqlk took advantage of the oppor- . « tunity afforded for a visit to thecountry. The Master ton Rjfle Volunteers assembled at eleven o'cloqk, and marched to the Park Oval, where -a feudejoie was fired in honor of Her Majesty,; followed- by the ren» ydition in exquisite taste and harmony of the National Anthem by Pearson's Brass Band. The volunteers were then paraded in review order by the commanding officer, Captain Pownall, , and the march back to the DrilNshed, ' headed by the exctllent martial strains 4 of 'the Band, created quite an imposing ■' appearance. Altogether, Her Bidet Gracious Majesty should feel proud of the loyalty with which the 72nd anniversary of her birthday was 1 > celebrated in this district. •
