Auckland has now 52,482, against 57,048; Wellington, 83,188, against 27,883 (this does not include 1982 on board ship); Dunedin, 45;829, against 45,518 ; Invercargill, 7999, against 8939; Napier, 8485, against 7680; Nelson, 6675, against 7315. ? The returns for Christchurch are not yet received. A striking feature shown by the recent enumeration is that in every place except Napier the females are in excess of the males. In Dunedin this excess is no less than 2245.
