FOOTBALL.
The half-mile race in connection with the Masterton Football Club takrts place on the Park Oval at 2.80 on Saturday next, and will be followed by the match, Masterton v. Red Stars.
A practice match will be held on the Park Oval this afternoon.
At a meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union to be held next week, the fixtures will be re-arranged, consequent upon the with drawal of the Carterton Club.
Mr S. H. Wickerson, late of the Masterton Club, has been elected Secretary of the Tenterfield (N.S.W.) Football Club.

The Carterton Observer devotes a leading article to the exposition of the game of football, in which it " slates " the Te Ore Ore Club for its roii!>h play and for having put its first fifteen in the field as juniors.
The action of the referee in the match Greytownseoond v Star second in allowing a free kick because a man ran back to touch down is to be appealed against. It is contended a scrum should have been ordered.

Mr G, Ellers asks us to state that he was picked as an emergency man for the first fifteen in the To Ore Ore v Grey town match, played a fortnight ago.
