MAURICEVILLE NOTES.
[By Wide Awake.] After a week s fine weatber.with a couple of sharp frosts, a change has occuired.
As I passed the little store on the hill yesterday I found they were removing it, and on mating enquiries learned it was going to be converted into a dwelling house. It seems to me that business is dull. I believe this is owing to the frequent calls of MasterUn storekeepers, who deliver the:r goods at 12 or 15 per cent under the price at which they can be purchased locally., Opposition has also started in the meat trade. Mr Brannirrau. has commenced business in the centre of the town, and from the business capacity which he possesses should do well. The driver of the Masterton coach, who left here on Saturday at the [usual time, did not return until 'Sunday mormpg, just in t*me for Church. The cause of the delay I do not know. It is reported that a couple who appeared to be very interested in each other at a recent social gathering contemplate a matrimpuial alliance. Ob! Eb! Such is :&
