MUNICIPAL FIRE BRIGADE.
A social gathering was held at the Municipal Fire Brigade station last evening, about thirty members and their friends being present. The tea under the Foreman Braggins and Branohman wan of a first class description kind ofdelioaryprovided. AfiftiaU justice had been done to the refresh* ments, the table was cleared and the company, having voted Capt. Pickering to the chair, entered into harmony. Songs and recitations followed each other m rapid succession, music of a novel and sweet naturo being provided by Mr T Willis ns on a fairy harp. His rendering of the bells was a treat to listen to. Songs were contributed by Messrs H Ewingtou, E. Braggins, Bruntou, Symes, Marsh P Wilton, R Ewington and othera. The comic element was creditably sustained by Messrs Caleb Ewington and "Pat" Murray. The recitations of Messrs 8 Mawhinay and J Butcher were creditably rendered, The gathering broke up at a late hour with "Auld Lang Syne" and a vote of thanks to tho chair.
