Another good house greeted the rise of tho curtain at the Theatre Koyal last evening, when the talented Draujatic Company gaye their thin}' performance, and as on previous occasions the audience was delighted with the clever acting, the handsome . dresses, and the charming scenery Tho production of the amusing comedy, "lhe Happy Pair," by MrW, H. Cowan and Miss Idrene Thornton, in which those pleasantries so peculiar to domestic life were faithfully pourtrayed, seryed as a capital introduction to tbe mythological comedy, "Pygmalion and Galatea." The cast of characters in i this piece was exceedingly powerful, 'and every part was sustained in a manner which does credit to the company, Miss Thornton, tho animated statue, performed her part with that gracefulness which is acknowledged to be her characteristic, whilst Mr Collet Dobson excelled himself in his faithful representation of the art sculptor. A.i the sculptor's wife Miss Lily Hill was quite at home. Mr J J. Kennedy, as the art patron, created no end of amusement by his peculiarly witty remarks, whilst his wife, JVJrs E. Jerroyn, displayed great skill in the interpretation of her part. Mr Frank Norton, the wwriqr, and Misa May Yernon, Pyginaiiou's wife, were also very successful in their respective parts. Altogether, the comedy, which was beautifully mounted and rendered the more pleasing by the aid of lime» lights, was a oredit to the author and the talented performers.
Tbe season in Masterton will be concluded this evening, when " Con, the Shautghraun," which was such a marked success on the occasion of the Company's last visit, will be produced.
