NECK OR NOTHING.

Another huge succ°ss was scored last night by the Dobson-Kennedy Company in that powerful military drama, " Neck or Nothing." A large audience was again present to witness the performance, and the frequent bursts of applause coupled with the fact that betweeu every act the principals were compelled to come before the curtain, must cer~ tainly have made these artistes feel that they were thoroughly in touch with those present, and that their vivid delineations of character were fully appreciated. Mr T. Norton, as "Colonel Egerton," was a exponent of a man who had earned such a title as " Surly Jack," while Mr H". Saville, as the private gentleman, "Mr John Davenant," acted with his usual care. Mr W H Cowan " Monsieur Grenouille" was well /rorth seeing, his really splendid delineation of the French villain being a perfect study, while the evergreen J J Kennedy as "Jonathan Bull" treated those present to the usual amount of merriment. Mr Collet Dobson played the part of '•Paul Davenant" the "neck or nothing" sergeant, the impersonation being perfectly natural and displaying even more than his usual force and power. As "Nadine,"ldrene Thornton acted and dressed charmingly, her sparkling vivacity in the earlier scenes contrasting strongly with the more emotional nature of tho part required by the altered circumstances. Miss Lily Hill as "Cleopatra Bull" excited no little mirth in asserting her marital rights. Uf th-3 remaining characters space precludes us saying more than that they were well and faithfully carried out, and made perfect one of the best performances ever staged in Masterton. The screaming Hibernian Comedy "O'Callaghan on his hut legs," concluded the lengthy bill, the audience being kept in one bubble of mirth from beginning to end.
