ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Upper Taueru Hoard Board was held on May 2nd, 1891, Present —The Chairman and Messrs Rutherfurd, Miller, and Perry. The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed. Cobbespondence. From Property Tax Commissioner, re subsidy for the current year. W. V. Jackson, stating that he has leased sections 131, 133, 134 in the Mangapalfeba district, Rangitjimau Block, to Messrs Simon and Simon Campbell, of Martinboro. North Waiiarapa Babbit Board, suggesting that the Board held to open ap the ifunperai road for horse traffic by falling the scrub. The Babbit Board are willing to find half the cost, which they estimate at £B, if the Upper Taueru Boad Board will find the remainder. John Kelly, requesting that tl»\ roadman be sent to fix up the crossing' over the Mungerai to his house. Sharp and Sons, Nelson, re rates, asking for further particulars.

Charles Lang, requesting that his name be put on tbe roll ns occupier of sections 139 and il2.

Property Tax Department, re application for subsidy. John Wingate, asking for some repairs to the track. R. A. Nicholls, enclosing amount of rates.

Messrs Poulson and Wilton, asking for a portion of their road line to be made available for wheel traffic. Resolved.

That the Board has no funds available for the purpose suggested by the North Wairarapa Rabbit Board. That CharlesLang'sname be placed on tbe roll aB requested.

That John Kelly be written to, asking for an estimate of the cost of bridging the crossing place on the Mungerai to his house. That David Harold be written to, accepting his tender for the billet of roadman and to request him to commence work at once. That Messrs Poulsen and Wiltons application stand over till next meeting.

Accounts amounting to L 25 9s were passed for payni ent.

• ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of ratepayers was held on May 2nc". The accounts were presented, showing a balance for the year ended March 81st, 1891 : General Account Or., £sl 17s 8d; Loan Account Or., £2 7s 9d ; Interest Account Cr., £27 4s 7d; Outstanding Rates £l6 8s sd. There was a large attendance of ratepayers, and after a somewhat lengthy discussion on the business transacted by the Board for the past year, the meeting adjourned.
