Mjjw Plvmoutu, April 21. Tho Native Land Laws Commission arrivod from Auckland by stcomer, and commences its enquiry in New Plymouth this morning. Mr Samuel gives evidence as to the working of tho existing nativo land laws in this district, and Mr Kendall, Native Trustoo, iu respect to dealing with, the' reserves. On Wednesday the Commission goes to Parihaka, and pp. to Opunako and rouud the coast, A SinffuUrlaquMt. Auckland, April 20. At an inquest on the body of Moses " Chambers, a bricklayer, who died fiud« denjy at JSpsom, it transpired that the doctor who had mado the post mortem examination of the romaius (Dr Orpen), did not open the stomach, flo said, however, that he believed tho cause of death was syncope from general debility. The examination ! was mado in the presence of Dr Msjkollar, and instructions wore given by T>r Philson, tho Coroner, that the stomach should be opened, but tho jury would not wait for the second examination, and dispersed after returning the following verdict : "That Moses Chambers died suddenly
but that there ino evidence to show the cause of deih." They added a rider expressinf dissatisfaction that the stomach hamot been examined. Dr Orpen, wiuhad treated tho deceased, stated i his evidence that Chambers hadcomplained of cold, and witness rescribed tincture of bryonga. The .busekeeper of deceased deposed that Jharohers took three drops of mediine, and a fev minutes afterwards c&i. y//
