BOROUGH COUNCIL.
COMMITTEE MEETINGS.
A meeting of the Works Committee of the Masterton Borough Counoil was held last evening. Present: Hia . x Worphip the Mayor, and Crs Perry and Eton.
The Overseer reported on the pro* gress of the works within the Borough, and recommended: Repairs to Upper Plain road, to coat about £2O; Masonio Street repairs, at a coßt of about £6; Johnston Street repairs; filling in of ruts in Columba repairs to Makora Street ; and repairs to Queen Street.
The following resolutions were passed: That the report stand over till next meeting when tho estimates will be made out, and in the mean-?*v time the Overseer be instructed tor patch the worst places. That tho Council be recommended to put in a culvert 2x2 and remove tho bridge near Mr Charles Dixon's. That the Overseer be directed to remove a tree from the Waipoua river above the railway bridge. That notice be given to the owners in Church street to construct the footpaths or the Council will do it at the owner's expense. That Mr R.Wyeth be informed he must have a proper crossing made over the footpath before he oan have an approach. That the attention of the polioe be called to the destruction of the footpath bjL . boyq in Queen streot. •. A meeting of the Finance Commit' tee was also held, when accounts amounting to £ll7 4s 4d were reoommended for payment,
