(FrcmOur Own Correspondent.) A meeting was held here last week to put the affairs of the Presbyterian Church on a proper footing, Hitherto services have been held fortnightly, but an effort will be made to establish weekly services. A tea meeting will shortly be held to bring the member 3 together, and to raise funds for an ofkm, 4 good working committee has been apaointftd to carry out tho arrangements. r . The County Council have given Mr Reese (the contractor for the Makairo Bridge) notice that his contract is cancSfcd, but J J#ar that ho will contest the position taken up by them. During the few fine days we lju.d $ fortnight ago most of the owners of felled bush mjide a last desperate attempt to get it off. Thp result in many instances is simply ghastly, and it is difficult to imagine what will be done with it now. It means incalculable labour and trouble to the unfortunate selectors.
