PAHIATUA COUNTY.

The monthly meeting of tbe : IPahiatua County Council was held on Saturday, Present Cra Bolton (in the chair), Vile, Yule, Pinfold, E. and G. Whitcombe, and Moore. The special orders with reference to loans having been adopted at a special meeting, it was resolved to hold a special meeting to conßrm the same on May 2nd. VAccounts amounting to £1275 wera passed for payment. The following contract tenders were accepted :—No. 181, D O'Brien; 182, J McCarthy; 185, J Vine; 186, T P Gird wood ; 137, W Kenny. Correspondence was read and dealt with.

It was resfilved to call for tenders for the erection of a cradle and sheep bridge over the Mangahao road. * Messrs Nay lor and A W Sedcole protested against the expenditure of the main road loan on the County road, and asked that the metal be put on the footpaths. It was decided to arrange if possible for the metalling of the footpaths, Mr Foster attended to clear his conscience with reference to appropriation of totara frcm the roads, and was told that in future he must obtain consent.

The report of the Engineer was read and adopted. It was resolved to expend the balance of the loan WoodvilleMangahao No 9, and to apply to the Government for a loan of £6OOO for the years 1892-93.' The meeting thea adjourned.
