Civil Service Board.

Wellington, Thursday. The Civil Service Board has been constituted as follows: —W. 8. Reid, Solicitor-General; G. S. Cooper, Under-Secretary for the Colony; C. M. Crombie, Propertytax Commissioner; J. G-. Gavin, Assistant-Controller and A.uditorGeneral; and H. J. H.Eliott, UnderSecretary for. Crown Lands. The function of the Board will be to advise the Government on the general administration, efficiency, and discipline of the Cival Service, also as to economy, promotions, and classification. Ministers will Btill be responsible to Parliament for the efficiency of the service, and a Civil Service Bill will be drafted in that direction.
