PAHIATOA COUNTY.
At the regular monthly meeting of the Pahiatua County Council, held on Saturday, it was resolved : That this Council objects to thr proposal to vest control of the Gorge bridge and road in the Council for the following reasons: 1, That the road in question forms a means.of communication between the Waipawa and Manawatu Counties and is of no benefit to the ratepayers in this County, and that the range road is, and will be our means of communication with the West Coast. 2. That there are no settlers on the road in question. 8. The land along the road is a forest reserve, and affords no revenue. 4. That this Council has no funds with which to maintain this road. That £l6 be spent on Burk's road, That Mr Bagley be informed that as difficulties have arisen re purchase of a site for a bridge, the Council at present cannot undertake it. That plans etc., be prepared for bridge over Kohinui Stream. That Mr Gardner's offer of subsidy for work on Middle Road be aocopted, and the work undertaken. That the permission (if ever) given to Mr P Dawson to erect fence on the Mangahao River Reserve, be cancelled. That Mr Dawson be notified that if lie is not prepared to erect gates he must remove the fence, That the consideration of the letter commenting on petition from the Mangahao settlers be postponed. . That Mr Jessop be allowed to cut timber on the river reserve for the Pound fence.
